City of Spearman Municipal Judge Gary Ellsworth swore in two reserve officers for Spearman Police Department. Arturo Gonzales and Shawn McWhorter were both sworn in to serve as reserve officers to help with police coverage in Spearman. Both Gonzales and McWhorter are full-time deputies with Hansford County Sheriff's Office. In their roles as Reserve Officers for Spearman PD they will cover shifts for the police department on a few of their days off from the HCSO as their schedules allow.
The City of Spearman and Spearman PD would like to thank Gonzales and McWhorter for offering some of their downtime to help relieve some of the staffing shortages within the Spearman PD. A special thanks is also in order to Sheriff Bob Mahaffee for allowing his deputies to serve in this reserve role in their time off from the HCSO.
